Rye dance perform another hit

Having seen the advertisements for Rye Dance Centre’s latest show, Super Duper, it came as no surprise to me that I found myself sitting in the White Rock Theatre on Saturday February 6. The show promised to be an extravaganza of song and dance, and it did not disappoint.

From the word go, the audience were completely entranced by the talent of Rye Dance Centre pupils, with each dance bringing something new to the table. All styles of dance were included, from elegant ballet work to tap, and all were performed to an immaculate standard. Consistently, the choreography of principal Joanne Fletcher wowed the crowds, with innovative new dances, as well as some older ones from the dance school’s history.

From comedy to romance, the afternoon had something for everyone, and it was remarkable to see the audience laugh one second and get the tissues out the next. As many of the dances are in competition at local festivals in the next few months, it was lovely to see students of all ages (and I mean ALL ages!) dance purely for fun. Without the obvious enjoyment and comradery felt by all the students, the audience would never have had such a good time! I wish all the pupils who danced the very best of luck with their upcoming competitions, and I can’t wait to see what is next for Rye Dance Centre.
