Lent lunching for charities

Last week’s fundraising Lent Lunch, held in St Mary’s church on Thursday, March 3, was attended by some two dozen people and helped raise funds in aid of the Bible Society.

This week’s lunch on Thursday March 10, was in aid of the Mothers’ Union, followed by one for Family Support Work next week on March 17 and finally for St Luke’s Healthcare on March 24. Each lunch is held between 12 noon and 1:30 pm.

Another lunch, organised this time by the knitting group at St Mary’s, will be on Thursday April 14 from 12 noon in the Clare Chapel to raise money for Samara’s Aid Appeal at which they will be serving home-made sausage rolls, sandwiches and cakes, as well as home-made soups They are hoping for a good attendance.
