Campfire is a collection of original songs created by year 13 students from Rye Studio School. It features a range of song genres from pop, folk, and electro to musical theatre and the album will be available after May 3 when a launch party – open to the public – will be held at The Yard (the new annex to the school, at the end of Eagle Road).
Campfire will cost £5 and the profit will be split between two charities, the Oliver Curd Trust and St Michael’s Hospice. Each artist has unique qualities and skills with music which have developed over the last two years. The album is a part of their coursework and is a great way to end their two years of education together.
The artists are Charlie Evans-Rouse, Abigail Webb, Abbie Donald, James Dickens Crispe, Ellen Lyward, Maria Ezobi, Lucie Eckersley, David Swarbrick, Rochelle Jerrum-Dore, James Austen, Dominic Buxton, Charlotte Tingley, and Tommy Ludford.
The name was decided by the class as it was a tradition during their time at Rye to shout “Campfire” when a discussion needed to be held. It makes the title of the album memorable and special for the students.
