A week after going down 6-3 away to Peasmarsh United, the 1st team of Icklesham Casuals met the same opposition and this time came out on top in another nine-goal thriller.

The sides were tied at 4-4 late in the second half with the Icklesham goals being scored by Val Newman (2), Phil Badrock and Joe Fraser while Liam Sayer with a hat-trick, following his four goals in the previous game and Caine Baldock-Apps replied for Peasmarsh.

Peasmarsh lost their goalkeeper to a red card with Fraser winning a penalty for the home side in the last minute which was coolly converted by Sean Baker for the deciding goal.

The 2nd team could only field nine players for their match away in Eastbourne against Parkfield. It was a significant game with Parkfield needing to win to take the Division Five title and as such the club was determined to fulfil the fixture. The nine men put in a performance to be proud of by holding the champions-elect 0-0 until the final 30 minutes before going down 3-0. In fact Icklesham had an excellent chance to take the lead moments before Parkfield opened the scoring.

The club would like to congratulate Parkfield on their successful season.

This Saturday, April 23 sees the 1st team travel away to face the 2nd team of Peche Hill Select whilst the 2nd team face the 3rd team of Battle Baptists at home.
