Classical treat comes to Hastings

Polo Piatti, local, award-winning British-Argentine composer who sadly took his ClassicUs Salons from Rye to Hastings because there was not a big enough venue, has recently been honoured by becoming a Member of the Royal Society of Musicians at a ceremony in London. This world famous society was founded in 1738 and received patronage from George III, being incorporated by Royal Charter in 1790. Famous members of the Society include great musicians such as Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn and Hector Berlioz.

Independent of this fact and shortly after, Polo was privately commissioned to compose a new orchestral piece to commemorate HM Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday. The beautiful piece has been entitled “Duty Sublime” and is very evocative as well as solemn like most of  Polo Piatti’s works, widely considered as highly emotional and passionate.

Insiders and people that have heard the work have already shown great admiration for the brilliant composition, especially for managing to evoke our Queen’s personality and royal trajectory so well.

Earlier this year Polo released a new CD, a romantic suite entitled “Sentimental Journey” which he recorded with the world-famous City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra conducting it from the piano. (It is beautiful, I can vouch for it).

Polo Piatti’s commission piece  will be performed during the Hastings Midsummer Fish Fest in the Stade Open Space in Hastings Old Town on June 25  at 11am by the Hastings Sinfonia, the orchestra Polo founded in 2012.

Other performances are scheduled for Friday May 20 at 7:30pm at Lewes Town Hall, East Sussex and on July 16 at 7:30pm in St John The Evangelist in Brittany Road, St Leonards on Sea.
