Museum kids day is regal

On Thursday June 2 there was another successful craft afternoon at the East Street Museum attended by local children and others on holiday. Two girls from London who were on holiday in Camber and Sue Manktelow’s grandchildren from as far away as Singapore came along for the fun afternoon. In all 15 adults and 14 children attended plus a couple of later visitors.
The children were kept busy all afternoon making a variety of crafts to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. They made wonderful crowns adorned with crystals and jewels and, as you can see from the photo, they modelled them wearing sparkling gold and silver cloaks. To keep with the Queen theme they decorated paper corgi dogs and the Queen’s handbag, all very inventive and well executed even by the youngest children – well done to them. Another popular activity was making paper flowers out of baking paper cup cases and straws. Also with the help of Heather Stevenson, a few children made their own silhouette portraits.
Thanks to our usual helpers – Heather Stevenson, Sue Mankelow and Pat Greenhough and also help from Jo Kirkham and Sheila Maddock. Thanks also to all the children who came (along with their parents and grandparents) and made such wonderful creations. The children will wear the crowns to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday weekend on June 11-12. Look out for the next children’s craft activity in August.
