Money Monster [15] 99 mins   In this tense thriller George Clooney is Lee Gates, a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies. Me Before You [12A] 110 mins   Louisa “Lou” Clark lives in a quaint town in the English countryside. With no clear direction in her life she goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet. Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge. Taking a job at the local “castle,” she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior. No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up. That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives – and hearts – changing in ways neither one could have imagined. Based on the book by JoJo Moyes, starring Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin and Charles Dance.

Mustang [15] 97 mins Subtitled

Beautifully shot, with stunning performances by its young cast, the Oscar-nominated Mustang is both a rousing tale of spirited youth and a powerful, moving and timely work of engaging social cinema.

It’s the beginning of summer. In a small village in northern Turkey, Lale and her four sisters are on their way home from school, innocently playing with local boys. But prying village eyes view their games with suspicion and the girls’ behaviour – and refusal to repent – quickly causes a scandal among the family. Soon the sisters find themselves locked in their bedrooms, with sober dress enforced and their schoolwork replaced by cookery classes. Their home now a prison, all the girls have to live for are arranged marriages and family honour. But together, driven by strength, courage and a desire for freedom, the five sisters fight back against the limits imposed on them and test their family ties to breaking point. Nominated for the Best Foreign Language film at both the Golden Globes and the Oscars in 2016. Winner of the Label Europa Cinemas at Cannes 2015 and five awards at the Cesar’s, France, 2016.

Sing Street [12A] 106 mins   Sing Street takes us back to 1980s Dublin where an economic recession forces Conor out of his comfortable private school and into survival mode at the inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher. He finds a glimmer of hope in the mysterious and über-cool Raphina, and with the aim of winning her heart he invites her to star in his band’s music videos. She agrees, and now Conor must deliver what he’s promised – calling himself “Cosmo” and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the ‘80s, he forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their hearts into writing lyrics and shooting videos. With echoes of The Commitments, Sing Street combines John Carney’s trademark warmth and humour with a memorable soundtrack with hits from The Cure, Duran Duran, The Police, and Genesis. Starring Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Lucy Boynton, Aidan Gillen, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jack Reynor.

Love and Friendship [U] 93 mins   Based on the Jane Austen novella “Lady Susan” and set in the 1790s, earlier than most Austen tales, Whit Stillman’s exquisite comedy of matchmaking and heart-breaking concerns beautiful young widow Lady Susan Vernon. The deliciously scheming and manipulative Lady Susan has come to Churchill, the estate of her in-laws, to wait out the colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst ensconced there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and for her eligible but reluctant school-girl daughter Frederica. The waters are troubled by the arrival at Churchill of the handsome, eligible Reginald DeCourcy and silly but cheerful – and very rich – Sir James Martin. Starring Kate Beckinsale, Chloe Sevigny, Xavier Samuel and Stephen Fry.

The Nice Guys [15] 116 mins  Set in 1970s Los Angeles, this action comedy drama follows a private eye and a hired leg-breaker who team up to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.
