The Music Well is a Community Interest Company based in Rye that provides music therapy for children in local schools and organises community music for wellbeing events. We are organising a study day at Rye Studio School on Saturday September 3 to consider the value of engagement with music for people with dementia. We are delighted that Veronica Franklin Gould will be joining us to share her work through the charity Arts4Dementia.

The Music Well recently completed a Big Lottery funded project and our speakers will include Keith Osborne who will be talking about the project exploring the use of iPads to support musical activity with people with dementia.  We have also commissioned a short film about the work of the Music Well and the Lottery project and we will show the film.

Dr. Trish Vella-Burrows will talk about her work through singing and dance with people with dementia. Trish has worked with Green Candle Dance company in East London and will tell us more about the benefits of dance. She will also lead an interactive singing session to explore the benefits of singing for people with dementia.
