Martin created magic on his Cello
Martin created magic on his cello

On Sunday, September 4, I was at a very special afternoon musical event in a private home near Bodiam.

The Rother Piano Trio brought magic to the listeners in a beautiful garden. Arran Caith played the piano, Pat Beament the violin and Martin Bradshaw the cello.

Martin used to live in Rye for many years (now in Hastings)  and played in St Mary’s church. In the past he was part of the BBC orchestra and travelled widely playing his cello. Martin is also an artist and you can see his paintings in Fletcher’s House Tea Rooms at the top of Lion Street. He has a gallery where you can look at his watercolour art, which has also been made into cards.

one can learn something new at any ageDuring the tasty cream tea I was introduced to “Fred Basset”, the comic strip in the Daily Mail and syndicated to papers in other countries, which is described as: “The hound that’s almost human”.

I was lucky enough to be in the company of the daughter of the creator. “Fred” has been going for many many years and is loved by people across the world. A wonderful afternoon in more than one way.
