Angels in the High Street

On Wednesday, September 7, I stopped in my car in the High Street just opposite Craft Magic to do an errand for a friend. When I reversed to park I heard a pop and a young woman as well as a few other people looked in horror as my front left tyre was slashed by the corner of a metal scaffold base plate that was sticking out over the curb of the pavement.

I have two reasons for writing this; firstly to make Scott’s Scaffolding company  and other cars aware of the danger and secondly to thank the wonderful young couple (with their patient baby) who were incredibly supportive. They stayed with me suggesting I take a photo which I did.

On top of that the young man offered to change the tyre for me. I couldn’t find the tools so they gave me their details in case I needed witnesses.

Thank you to both of you for being so helpful and giving back the belief that people do care if a stranger is in need. So often we hear that people walk past those in need. In fact they were visitors to Rye and just on the way to enjoy a visit to Craft Magic, which eventually they did. My afternoon was taken up waiting for the recovery service and getting a new tyre.
