Rye and Winchelsea Rotary club have purchased 5000 purple crocuses to be planted around Rye to celebrate the work of the Rotary in eradicating the scourge of polio. Members of the club, led by Derek Bayntun, and supported by residents of Valley Park, met early Sunday morning 8 October to plant 3000 of them at the top of Udimore Road. In the spring, visitors arriving at Rye will be greeted by a wonderful swathe of purple flowers. Thank you Rotary for this tremendous initiative to help make Rye even more beautiful, writes Stephen Clift, Chair, Valley Park Committee.
