With a sprinkle of fairy dust and the spin of the glitter ball, Christmas came to Rye. Yes, it’s pantomime time!
Acting Up In Rye performed Cinderella to fully appreciative audiences at Rye Community Centre on Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26.
A colourful and well designed set was the backdrop for a large, beautifully costumed cast to perform their magic. Amid many “he’s behind you” and “oh no he’s not”, the Fairy Godmother transformed a pumpkin into a coach and Cinders got her Prince, not withstanding the shenanigans of the evil ugly sisters.
The show was punctuated by lively chorus numbers which were accompanied by Yvonne Hamilton at the piano. There were a number of new members in this year’s cast and it was delightful to see several very young people taking part and obviously enjoying the experience. Congratulations to all involved. Happy Christmas, we will be back next year!
