The 2nd team of Icklesham Casuals picked their first points of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 victory at home to Northiam 75 2nds.
The Icklesham side were on top from the start, creating a number of chances, but failed to open the scoring due to rushed finishing and several offsides. It was the visitors who took the lead when a breakaway resulted in a smart turn and shot from Tyler Sargent. Icklesham hit back soon after through a cross shot from right-winger Sam Hodgett, his first goal for the club.
A second goal followed early in the second half, when Solly Cooke finished a good move emphatically. Dan Russell created several chances with well-timed breaks from midfield but Northiam pressed hard and a succession of good corners had to be well defended. The visitors then had a man sent off, and the young home side held on for a well deserved first win of the season. Man of the match was Jack Swan, for a composed display at the back.
After their improved form in recent weeks the 1st team suffered a disappointing 5-1 loss away to Wadhurst United which leaves them 8th in the East Sussex League Division 1.
This Saturday, December 17, Icklesham Casuals 1st team host Little Common 2nds whilst the 2nd team travel away to Bexhill Spartans.
