A group of Sussex football players are switching sports and organising their own golfing European Tour taking in five countries in less than two days.
The 80-hole charity challenge will see the players teeing off for the first hole in England and sinking the final putt 40 hours later in Germany. Along the way they will have played in France, Belgium and Holland.
The golfers are all members of Icklesham Casuals FC, which celebrates its 80th season this year.
Money raised by the June 2017 challenge will be shared between the Motor Neurone Disease Association, The Alzheimer’s Society and the fund to complete the club’s new pavilion.
They are looking for sponsorship for each of the 80 holes and accompanying the Icklesham members – Bob Baker, Steve Beale, Adam Forrest, David Mayne and Nick Sparks – will be personalised golfing events organiser John Cooper who has arranged the trip.
The ambitious challenge has already attracted wide interest among golfers throughout the south, with a special features to be published in Golf News and Golf South Magazine.
Further publicity will be generated in May next year at a golf day to be held at the Weald of Kent Golf Course near Headcorn in Kent, open to teams of four.
