The 2017 Great Dixter Nurseries Clematis and General Plant List has just been printed and distributed for retail and mail order sales. It cancels all others that have been published and covers the entire 2017 season. Terms of business are clearly laid out and the comprehensive text includes accurate descriptions of the plants available, best placement and time of planting. There are colour photos to illustrate.
The nurseries at Northiam were started in 1954 by the owner of Great Dixter House and Gardens, Christopher Lloyd, to propagate, tend and sell plants and shrubs. Lloyd died in 2006, and the plants, which include clematis and some rare and unusual specimens, continue to be produced in the garden’s soil based compost, A full description of this is in the list.

This year’s Spring Plant Fair held here is scheduled for Saturday April 1 and Sunday April 2, 2017, from 11am to 4pm. This fair is attended by growers from across Great Britain and Europe and is always great fun, with wonderful nurseries represented and talks by the nurserymen at intervals
The entrance fee is £9 and includes full access to the gardens.
