Museum isn’t (April) fooling!

The Rye Castle Museum at 3 East Street really does reopen for the summer season on Saturday April 1. It will then be open at weekends and bank holidays 10:30 am – 4:30 pm April to October, volunteers permitting. The museum is open to all free of charge but donations welcomed. This is an independent museum run by volunteers.

There is a new display of Rye medieval pottery and a new booklet on sale, written by Jo Kirkham, Chairman of the museum’s board of directors – Rye Royale ( Rye in the 1920’s).

Ypres Tower, the museum’s other site is open every day throughout the year 10:30-5pm with the last entry 30 minutes before closing. There is a new exhibition showcase of the Cinque Port Volunteers, local companies of part-time volunteers reformed into the Regiment of Cinque Port Volunteers in 1803, owing to the fear of invasion from France. Adults pay £4, over 65s £3. Children are welcome to come in free with paying adult.
