The Rye and London based Wall Of Sound choirs are joining forces once again and are headed to the Cork International Choral Festival at the end of April for four days of sun (maybe!), singing and general sociability.
This charismatic choir led by musical director, Royal Academy of Music trained, Rye resident, singing coach and Integrative Counsellor Sandra Scott, will be joined by their London singing colleagues.
The group will perform a diverse repertoire including Benedictus from Karl Jenkins’ An Armed Man, gospel and spirituals, Irish traditional, contemporary and rock reinvented with all arrangements written by Sandra, especially designed for the unique and varied members of both choirs.
The choirs are excited to be performing in several different settings within this vibrant city of Cork including the 1,000-seat City Hall concert hall, where the foundation stone was laid by Éamon de Valera on July 9, 1932, the building being paid for by the British government in the 1930s as a gesture of reconciliation.
This is indeed a further opportunity for the choir to build upon their fantastic success of the last year, including twice accompanying award winning classical crossover trio Blake and a wonderful concert for Esther Rantzen’s charity SilverLine in the beautiful St Bartholomew the Great in Spitalfields
After returning from Cork, the soloists from the choir and singing students of musical director Sandra will be performing an uplifting and charming recital at St John’s Waterloo on May 12 at 1pm, singing an eclectic range of folk songs from around the world accompanied by pianist Hara Kostogianni.
