Rye Community Shop played host again, on Friday April 28, to their patron and our local MP, the Rt Hon Amber Rudd. She presented cheques to the value of £10,006 to representatives from the 12 successful applicants of their latest funding round. This is the second funding round that the shop has held since becoming a registered charity in January 2016 and brings the total donated to local projects and groups to nearly £20,000 so far.

….and with the volunteers who make it possible

Successful applicants this round were: Beckley Pre School, Camber Memorial Hall, Camber Residents Association, Ferry Road Nursery, Rye Primary, Iden Bowls Club, Peasmarsh Primary, St Michael’s Primary Playden, Rye Allotments Association, Rye Harbour Sailing Club, Rye & District Day Centre and The Music Well.

The shop, at 41 Cinque Ports Street, set up as a registered charity at the beginning of 2016 and is manned entirely by a fabulous group of volunteers who work tirelessly to enable funds to be raised for local groups and projects. None of this could be possible of course if it were not for our donors and customers, and the Trustees would like to thank everyone who have made this such a huge success.

It is anticipated that there will be another funding round commencing in July where it is hoped a similar amount will be made available. Details will appear in the press and via our Facebook page, Rye Community Shop.
