As usual there are many things going on this Bank Holiday weekend which, if they are not listed in the monthly Fixtures, will probably feature in Adams’ side window in the High Street, or on a passing lamp-post.

This Friday, May 26, the East Surrey Morris Dancers will be outside St Mary’s Church from 2:45pm.

As it is the last weekend in the month, the Rye Spice Company is featuring free tasting events from noon to 3pm on both Saturday May 27 and Sunday May 28. There should be lots of interesting dishes to try and a free glass of wine or beer with every tasting. Rye Spice can be found in the road down to Rye Harbour on the right, near the end of the trading estate by Bournes Removals. For more details contact robbie@ryespice.co.uk.

Christian Aid Week ends with a Big Brunch on Bank Holiday Saturday, May 27, at St Mary’s Centre (next to the Kino in Lion Street) from 10am to 1pm; and on Friday June 2, The Bible Society invites you to a feast of music and verse by local artists at 6:30pm in Rye Baptist Church. Tickets are £8 including a buffet supper in the interval and are available from Janet Waddams on 01797-214089.

On Sunday May 28, Friends of Rye Wurlitzer feature Keith Beckingham at 2:30 pm in the Milligan Theatre at Rye College in Love Lane.

On Bank Holiday Monday, May 29, Jempsons supermarket at Peasmarsh features another of its Charity Boot Fairs. Pitches are from £5 and gates open at 7am. The next one will be on August 28.
