I went to listen to Dom Pipkin playing at the Grapevine, Conduit Hill, on Friday July 28. And what an evening it was!
Described as “Smokin Boogie” his music certainly lives up to that description. If you are a fan of New Orleans piano players Professor Longhair and Jelly Roll Morton, amongst others, then this is for you. Dom’s pedigree is impressive, as he has played all over the world with many famous names. He will be appearing at the Grapevine again on August 25 and 26, and with his band, The Ikos, in the Rye Jazz Festival on August 27. Catch him if you can, you will have a great night. I’ll be there.
