Historic England has called for help to create a list of the 100 buildings and places that “tell England’s remarkable story and its impact on the world”.

The nomination can be a home or garden or a sporting venue. It can be a place linked to singers, musicians, writers, poets and the works they created. The nomination cannot be of the whole town – it must be of a specific building, structure, archaeological site, battlefield, tree etc. The building doesn’t have to be well known but it should have had some impact on local, national or world history. It could also be where an important historical event has taken place.

Is there a building or an event that has taken place in Rye that you want to nominate? For more information on the scheme, and how to make your nomination, go to Historic England’s 100 Places.
