Rye’s 7th Wild Boar Week, October 21 to 29, looks set to be bigger and better than ever. All kinds of different game will be on menus in and around the town and 26 restaurants are already signed up.
The Gallivant Hotel in Camber is planning a Forager’s Supper Club featuring game, wild boar and seasonal foraged ingredients
Webbe’s at the Fish Cafe will host a Game Cookery School Day (now fully booked) where guests will learn how to prepare and cook a variety of species including mallard, pigeon, pheasant and venison.
On Thursday October 26 The Mermaid Inn is to have a Jazz Supper incorporating its wild boar menu and including Esther Bennet on vocals with David Silk, Roger Lewin and Jacqui Norris. Reservations still available at the time of writing.
Some old favourites will also be making a return such as the extremely popular wild boar ragu and papardelle pasta served at Simply Italian.
And it’s not just the restaurants who are to join in, patrons of the Windmill Guest House, among others, will find wild boar sausages on the menu at breakfast!
