Sussex Police are looking for new recruits to join their team of Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). The force has launched a recruitment drive to find more people to patrol districts and work with local teams in helping crime prevention and keeping people safe.
PCSOs are equipped with additional skills and powers to ensure they are able to tackle the issues that affect the most vulnerable. They play an integral part in making our communities feel safer and their role can be one of the most demanding in Sussex Police.
Working in teams across districts rather than in a specific neighbourhood, they serve where they are most needed, making assessments about where communities have the greatest concerns.
Sussex Police Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne said: “PCSOs take a proactive part in keeping our community safe, supporting crime prevention and police investigations. If you think you can tackle the issues that matter most to local people, the role of PCSO could be tailor-made for you.”
Assistant Chief Constable Nick May said: “PCSOs work with officers to keep our communities safe, so the public should be reassured that we are very much still working in local communities across Sussex.
“If you apply you can expect to deal with issues such as hate crime, anti-social behaviour or helping vulnerable people in difficult situations.”
