It was a pleasure and a privilege to be in the audience to hear Nicholas Martin play on Rye’s Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ on Sunday September 28th.
This artist is one of the UK’s foremost concert and recording organists and had travelled from Leicestershire to give an outstanding afternoon’s entertainment to a very appreciative audience. Martin played a wonderful variety of favourite tunes, including a selection of songs from shows and an ABBA medley.
The Wurlitzer is now sounding better than ever, and it was a great afternoon! As well as being a top-class organist Martin has co-founded a charity called ‘Miracles to Believe In’ which supports autistic children. Through his musical performances Martin has raised a huge sum for this charity, which is close to his heart as both his sons suffer from severe autism.
Next month one of the South’s favourite entertainers, John Mann, will be making his annual visit to the Rye Wurlitzer located at Rye College. His show is on Sunday October 26 at 2.30pm. More details can be found on the website.
