Every Saturday between 10am and 5pm Chris Thompson, who has been running Classic Chaps for some years now in different venues in and around Rye, can be found in Slade Yard, (J Jempsons & Son Ltd) Winchelsea Road. On the walk down the entrance to the yard, interesting items lead the way into what was The Old Bakery (which has now become a warehouse full of antiques and different items) where Chris displays and sells, in several rooms, his collection of vintage men’s clothes/accessories, antiques, bric-a-brac and second-hand books.
It’s a treasure trove of eclectic items (cravats, pots, ties, cufflinks, shirts, waistcoats, furniture and jewellery). He has been in this location for eight months and has had plenty of room to be creative, organising a display of his poetry between glass panels.
