Early this year all the staff and owners of Salts Farm Shop were devastated to hear the news that a good friend had cancer. Their immediate response was that they should do something to try to combat this awful disease, and the pain and anguish that it brings. So they decided to hold a fundraiser week at Salts Farm Shop in aid of Cancer Research UK, from April 3-7. Local businesses, many of them small independents who are struggling at this time, responded with kind generosity when asked for prizes for a tombola, as did businesses from Cranbrook and Wittersham.
Staff also set up a ‘healthy eating’ sweepstake, a ‘name the cuddly puppy’ sweepstake and a second-hand books sale (books were kindly donated by the shop’s customers). However, the real fun happened on Saturday, when staff and friends endeavoured to cycle 100 miles on a static exercise bike – and succeeded! Everyone that took part was a good sport and wore the ‘tutu de bicyclette’, and they truly put their backs into it for six and a half hours.
Everyone at Salts Farm Shop would like to give a huge thank-you to all the customers that sponsored them, bought tickets for the tombola and sweepstakes, bought books, and generously filled our collection buckets with much needed money, all in aid of Cancer Research UK.
