On a bright sunny St George’s Day in Rye, the Mayor, Councillor Jonathan Breeds, took the salute of ex-Service and youth organisations in front of the Town Hall. In Church, Canon David Frost spoke about the significance of flags as a form of identity; As President of Rye Royal British Legion, I spoke to the Scouts and Guides of the origins of the movement and the link to St George, and then led the renewal of their promises. Visitors who joined the service remarked that it was so good to see the St George tradition maintained.
