Playden’s historic church’s spire (shown above) needs urgent reshingling and associated stonework repairs – and help is needed with the costs involved in order for work to start this summer.
In the meantime the church fete is this Saturday July 21 between 11am and 3pm with a barbecue, Pimm’s and lots of stalls promised.
Guestling’s St Laurence Church hosts Songs for a Summer Evening this Saturday July 21 at 7pm with Cantabile Ladies Choir, pianist Richard Eldridge and St Laurence Church Choir.
Tickets £10 at the door include wine and strawberries and cream during the interval.
Rye’s 1925 Wurlitzer organ bursts into action on Sunday, July 22, from 2:30pm in Rye College in Love Lane with classical, light and popular items.
Doors open 1:30pm and £9.50 admission includes refreshments in the interval.
Winchelsea Community Hall features Catsfield Steamers Band this Friday July 20 for a stomping Barn Dance from 7pm in aid of Winchelsea Bowls Club. £8 on the night. BYO drinks and refreshments.
Northiam opens four gardens next Tuesday July 24 in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
