What a match it was at The Maltings on Sunday morning (October 12) when Beckley Rangers under 18s met Rotherfield FC in the Crowborough and District League.  There were 11 goals in this exciting encounter with Josh Zon scoring the winner.

The teams were equal on points going into the match. After a first half to forget, Beckley Rangers went in at half-time 1-5 down, their only goal being scored by Lucas Zon.

With a quick chat at half-time from the Beckley manager Rob Sayer, the belief of the players was still there. Rangers picked up the pace and stopped their silly mistakes from the first half and the goals started to flow! Brad Sayer started them off with a great strike from outside the box making it 2-5, which was quickly followed with a bullet shot from Henry Donoghue: 3-5. Josh Green then made the comeback believable by slotting home the ball to make it 4-5.

Connor Buss, being a continuous threat, got his reward with a drive across the box slotting the ball into the bottom corner making it 5-5 going into added on time, but the excitement did not end there. Beckley won a free kick in the last seconds of the match, which was superbly floated into the box by Joseph Fraser to be met by a brave header by Josh Zon to complete a truly amazing Beckley Rangers comeback.

Poor Zon split his eye in his final header and needed a trip to the hospital for stitches. The Lankelma and McCartney Productions Ltd man of match was Connor Buss. Rangers are away next week to Spartans.
