Rye Festival of the Sea

Events will start at 11:15 with the much loved raft race around the fishing quay in Rye, starting from Monkbretton Bridge. With a parade for all participants and audience alike through the town, the winning rafts will be awarded their prizes on the Strand stage at 1pm.

The prize for the winning raft is sponsored by Cllr Andi Rivett and Rock Channel Marine who also crafted the winner’s trophy.  The most fun raft is sponsored by Rye Shoes. There will be an afternoon of great music, food & drink, a wide variety of stalls and information, including the RNLI & Rye’s Fire & Rescue team.

For younger participants there will be a sea-themed fancy dress competition, and readings by the Town Crier of Captain Pugwash stories in the Rye Heritage Centre, plus rides.
