Grim though the state of Rye town is, and in need of a “steward”, far more urgent is the traffic situation that has become a threat to life – not only fire engines but also ambulances [see Spending force or spent force, Rye News Nov 7]. Thus a traffic warden is essential even if his powers are very limited.
