The Seafood Bar comes to Rye

The Seafood Bar is opening this Saturday, at Rye Fish Market (Simmons Quay).

How do you take the freshest shellfish and just make them even better? Well, according to the Chapman’s, you ask a Michelin star chef called Alan Irwin to design a simple, delicious menu. And then you open “The Seafood Bar”. Its focus is locally caught and locally run, with Louise Chapman managing the seafood bar set-up. Three dishes to start: oysters, crab, and lobster rolls. Local wines (Charles Palmer and Mountfield) or local beers (Three Legs or Curious Brew) will make your meal even better (non-alcoholic drinks of course also available)

The seafood bar will have its first opening this Saturday, from 11am to 6pm. It will be open every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer. You will see me, I think, right at the front of the queue every day it is open…

“The best lobster roll ever”

I asked a few Rye residents lucky enough to taste the new offerings:

“The best lobster roll ever. Really generously filled with juicy lobster.”

“Toasted sourdough crab sandwich is simply delicious… I can’t wait to come back and try another one.”

“How can you beat ridiculously fresh oysters and chilled wine?”
