Pupils of Rye Dance Centre will be competing in the Ore Dance Festival being held at the Milligan Theatre, Rye College, this week from Tuesday to Saturday May 26-30, writes Lesley Pankhurst. Junior and senior members of the dance school will be performing solo, duets, trios and quartets. During the week, pupils of the school will also be travelling to Cranbrook to compete in the regional finals of the All England Dance Competition with solos and duets. Two groups are entered as well, one in the under 15 modern section with “Light Up The Night Sky” and the other in the 21 and under group with “Ghost”.

All of these dancers qualified for the competition at the other local festivals held at Hastings and Tunbridge Wells earlier this year and at Canterbury last July. If successful at the regional competition, the national finals are held in London at the end of July, with dancers coming from all over the country. The school has been very successful in the past in this competition and it is an enjoyable and memorable experience for those involved to dance at one of London’s theatres.
