Old Mother Hubbard is the choice for this year’s panto and almost 20 willing volunteers read selected passages from the show’s script to see what roles they were most suited to. Some even managed to get through a line or two without dissolving with laughter. Acting Up in Rye is a very friendly drama group formed in 2013 that has already put on four shows: A Day of Reckoning, Hocus Pocus, The Volunteers and Smile Boys That’s The Style. New members of all standards are always welcome so don’t worry that your theatrical skills might not be up to scratch. And help backstage and with the front of house is always appreciated.

If you feel the need to unleash your inner evil squire or have an urge to slap your thighs in a jaunty manner and toss off an innuendo or two, head down to the Queens Head Inn on Tuesday August 26th when the final audition takes place at 7pm.

Anyone interested in taking part but who can’t make it on Tuesday should ring Sarah on 07766 211220. The pantomime will be held at the Community Centre on November 20, 21 and 22. For more details of the group visit their website at: www.actingupinrye.co.uk.
