Gala dazzles St Mary’s

Violinist Anthony Marwood and cellist Richard Lester joined forces with the Aurora Orchestra to give a superb musical performance in St Mary’s church on June 20th. Under the baton of conductor of Nicholas Collon, the experience and virtuosity of the former Florestan players combined with the incredible skill and enthusiasm of the youthful Aurora group to make music of the highest quality. Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro was lively and Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 bright and genial (though with it’s hint of drama). It was the Brahms Concerto for violin and cello in A minor, however, that really held the packed audience spellbound. In every way the concert was in the very best tradition of the Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival.
