A long queue of people lined West Street late afternoon on June 6, to the extent that a neighbour came out to find out what was going on, writes Seana Lanigan. They were waiting for the garden doors of Lamb House to be flung open so they could take their seats or lay out their rugs in preparation for the arrival of Richard Crowest, Ashford based writer, playwright and professional story teller. Crowest read excerpts from the works of EF Benson, Saki and Edith Wharton to the rapt attention of his audience, who washed them down with prosecco. Crowest did two reading sessions at Lamb House last year, one for the annual get together of the EF Benson society, and the other for a spooky evening of ghost stories. He hopes to return to Lamb House for another event before the summer is out.
