Are you relaxed, calm and patient? Would you like to make a difference to someone with learning disabilities?Could you be a befriending visitor?

Come and join us and be a visitor!

We support a woman who is in her 50’s and has a learning disability.  She lives in a shared house with other people who also have learning disabilities.

In this role you will visit her six times a year, spend time together and do some of the things she enjoys doing.

She is looking for a visitor who is confident, someone that she can have a fun with and share some of the activities she enjoys e.g. chatting, knitting, having her nails done, baking, chat about films, TV and music.  She loves a good chat and a cup of tea either in her house or in the nearby high street.

Visits will initially take place in her home. Once you get to know each other she would like you to go out for a tea and cake and a browse around the local shops.

If you have a car and feel able to go a bit further afield once you know each other that would be great but it is certainly not a requirement.

She will enjoy spending time with a friendly volunteer like you.  By visiting every other month, you will make a big difference.

You will be introduced and get to know her with the support of Mencap staff and her support workers.
