East Sussex Highways has advised local residents that Lion Street will be closed on Friday July 2, to allow carriageway repairs to be carried out approximately 10 metres in from the High Street.The road will be closed from High Street to Market Street between 9am and 4pm.
Parking will be suspended on East Street and Market Street so that the one-way system can handle two-way traffic for the duration of the works. Questions regarding these works may be raised by visiting the Highways website.
From inspection today, it appears that the intention may be to repair the pothole at the entrance to the shadowed scaffolding tunnel. If so, this person will be delighted as I twisted my ankle walking down Lion Street earlier this week.
