On Wednesday October 19, Dr John Crook, born in Brede where he now lives, will trace the story of our village. He will use the scrap-books and photographs compiled by his great-grandfather, the Revd George Ernest Frewer, who was instituted Rector in 1886. He will also look at the geographical setting of the village, its long history, its vanished industries and way of life, and some of the characters associated with Brede in days gone by.

Dr Crook FSA is an independent historian, and is architectural and archaeological consultant to Winchester Cathedral and St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. He has published many books in a variety of historical subjects, both as author and photographer.

The talk is at Brede Village Hall, Cackle Street on Wednesday October 19 at 7:30pm.

Entry, including cheese, biscuits and a glass of wine is £7.50

Tickets are available from Marion Firman 01424 751165 or from Pat Whately 01424 883069

The talk has been arranged by the Friends of Brede Church
