CFAiR LogoFollowing two recent traffic accidents involving children , Campaign For Action in Rye (CFAiR) will campaign for a 20mph speed limit on these roads in Rye – the Citadel, Cinque Ports Street, Wish Ward, Ferry Road (as far as the level crossing), Crown Fields, Station Approach, Tower Street, Landgate, and all residential roads on Tilling Green.

At their October15  meeting,  CFAiR endorsed many of the ideas in the initial Traffic Management draft for the Neighbourhood Plan (which sets out planning priorities and issues for the town):

  • That Rye should call herself a “Pedestrian Priority Town” and institute the 20mph speed limit as described above;
  • that “no parking whatsoever” red lines be placed on bends and junctions where emergency vehicles might be impeded;
  • that future development(s) must finance a community covered car park or garage for residents at reasonable long term rates and for guests at short term rates;
  • that an edge-of-town storage facility be organized for commercial deliveries, from which a smaller vehicle can make deliveries into town. It was decided to debate and elaborate on these and other possibilities at the next meeting.

Daliea Redman gave the meeting an introduction to Dementia Action campaign. CFAiR voted unanimously to adopt the Alzheimer Society declaration and Daliea will introduce training at the next meeting.

Tracy Dighton will also be organizing social media training for members.

The next meeting will be November 19 in the Tilling Green Community Centre. Daliea’s dementia training will take place from 6-7pm and the CFAiR meeting will continue from 7pm. Non-members are welcome to attend.

Please note also – the following meeting will be Thursday December 10, also at Tilling Green, and will be CFAiR’s Christmas party.
