Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat B-842 Hello Herbie rescued a couple and their car that was stuck in the mud at the side of the River Rother on Tuesday April 21, writes Steve Tollett. It was 1:30pm and the incoming tide threatened to flood the car. As there was insufficient water for the lifeboat to get to the car it was pushed along to it in the launching carriage. The occupants were put ashore and given a hot drink in the crew room while their car was recovered and washed down by the crew.

Tony Edwards, deputy launching authority at the lifeboat station said: “If you think you’ve got what it takes to be part of a dynamic team doing extraordinary things, then come and see us on a Sunday morning between 10am and midday or Monday evening 6:30-7:30pm.”
