Local jobs and traffic congestion may be helped by a new motorway junction on the M20 north of Romney Marsh. The £70 million junction, half a mile south of Ashford’s junction 10, is part of a package of nearly £500 million government funds to boost South East economic growth. Junction “10a” is considered necessary to encourage investment and jobs, as well as easing traffic congestion around Ashford. It has been on the local “wish list” for years. Work is expected to start in 2016-17. The money comes from funding obtained by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership.
