“Scout Fest” is a day of  ‘have-a- go’ activities on Saturday October 4 from 10am to 4pm to celebrate moving into our new building, the Rye Scout Centre, which is next to Rye Leisure Centre”, writes William Perfitt, leader of 1st Rye ‘Captain Cory’s Own’, and the aim is to promote scouting in Rye and the surrounding villages and have some fun. Dignitaries have not been specifically invited, but are very welcome to join in and have a go.

“We have fire lighting, dough twists, bottle rockets, knotting, tent erecting, wood branding, first aid, art and craft, a cake stall, refreshments, a tombola, a ladder game, a book stall, and more; and there will be opportunities to donate as you go round to meet the cost of some scouting activities.

We will have a Grand Opening next year, but the details are still being planned, and we are requesting  the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, to attend.

We have to finish off the grounds with grass seeding, fencing, and professional signage. We have applied for a grant from ‘Lloyds Bank Community Funding’ and you can vote for us by going into the Rye branch and physically voting, or you can text voteMZP to 61119.”
