The problem of cars speeding in Tilling Green, in the spotlight since a recent accident involving a boy, was raised at last week’s (Wednesday October 21) Tilling Green Residents Association’s (TGRA) Annual General Meeting at the Tilling Green Community Centre.
Chairman Dan Lake gave an update on the progress of the association over the last 12 months and also reported on what they hope to achieve in the next 12 months. TGRA held numerous events during the past year including bonfire night, Christmas and Easter events, and the summer fete – which was organised with Ferry Road Nursery. Other activities included a litter pick as well as working closely with housing association Amicus Horizon to resolve various queries raised by residents.
TGRA’s aims for the next 12 next months include setting up a Tilling Green website, setting up a young persons residents association and also campaigning for speed calming measures along Mason Road.
Answering questions from residents about dog fouling, and about speeding on Mason Road, Lake said that he had recently contacted East Sussex County Council’s highways department to ask them to look at possible speed measures on Mason Road. He was awaiting a response from them.
In the meantime he had been given some A3 size “Kill your speed” signs which could be used as a temporary measure. With regard to dog fouling, he said Rother District Council were going to look at improving signage on the estate and they also plan to replace the remaining bucket bins on Mason’s Field with new seagull proof bins.
At the end of the evening Lake thanked the committee and all the volunteers for all their help and hard work during the year. He then advised of his intention to step down in October 2016 as he feels a three year term as chairman is more then sufficient, but reassured everyone that he would still give his best over the next 12 months.
