Parkfield’s lucky win

The 2nd football team of Icklesham Casuals were unlucky to go down 2-1 at home to Parkfield last Saturday as a strong wind made it a game of two halves.

A first minute corner blew into the goal off a defender as Icklesham went behind again to an own goal. But a battling performance ensured a turn round with no further score in the first period. In fact the Casuals almost equalised when Joel Sadler headed on to the bar.

Half time substitute Sam Garner made an immediate impact, scoring with a curling shot and it was one way traffic after that. The conditions made it hard to play a passing game, but it seemed tough when a rare Parkfield break saw them score.

Mason Maddox had a goal disallowed and several close offsides frustrated Icklesham, who at least restored pride after their heavy cup defeat to the same opposition.

The veterans of Icklesham Casuals have reached the final of the Hastings FA Veterans Cup where they take on Little Common Veterans. The date and venue for the final have yet to be confirmed.
