The day started miserable and damp and Rye Bay were very slow in getting started with Hastings taking an early lead, writes Darren Paine, under-12s coach. The game stayed like this until just before the end of first half, when JK got the equaliser. Rye came out for the second half looking a completely different team. JK managed to get another two goals, which clinched his hat trick, and these were followed with goals from Layton Andrews, Bradley Paine and Kai Jerry. Rye’s defence were good, with Liam Wearing doing well in goal. Match ended with Rye the victors, 6-2.
