Glorious weather helped Winchelsea attract a record number of visitors to its main open garden day last Saturday, June 6, writes Richard Comotto.

11 wonderful and imaginative gardens  were open to help raise funds for the National Open Gardens Scheme, while sales of tea, cakes and plants raised money for local charities.

Also on display, for those all “gardened-out”, were the picturesque allotments in Back Lane.
