Dogs and consequences

Dear Editor
All of us love dogs, and many of us are lucky enough to have one. But walking on some of the paths around Rye it seems that owners, perhaps not local, do not clean up mess on the footway. Particularly bad examples are on  the path to Winchelsea under Cadborough Cliff,  or along the raised bank on the east side of the Rother leading up to the golf course and beyond.

The Environment Agency has the solution in its simple and effective notice on the path at Rye Harbour: “Dog walkers please – keep your dog under control; clear up after your dog – it’s a health hazard. If more dog walkers do this it will make this a safer and more enjoyable place for everyone.”

Can we have one or two notices like this? I will contribute.
