Road closure ‘just accepted’ ?

We tried to come from our hotel in Peasmarsh today to Rye and through to Hythe. We were on holiday, and did not know the area or any diversion. After trying to find another way through, which took ages, we asked a lone man at the roadworks site, and were told a vague way through. After about ten minutes, and becoming totally lost down windy lanes as the satnav wouldn’t work either, we were lucky enough to stop a local man who led us in his own car through to Rye, which still added about half an hour to our journey.

May I ask for the sake of all holidaymakers, as well as hospital attendees, that at the site where the road is blocked and in Peasmarsh itself that signs tell you THE DIVERTED ROUTE!!! It seems appalling to me that a main road past a hospital should close for two weeks in the summer season and it is just accepted. But luckily we are not local, as in our area this would not be acceptable.
