“Blends well with the ancient skyline of Rye, does it not?” Reader Lindsay Akerman sent in this wry comment.
We checked into the situation. Work on this site, a former garage, in Cinque Ports is nearing completion, and Jenner’s Site Office told Rye News that they are now planning the removal of the crane, writes Charles Harkness. However another crane will be needed to lift it out section by section. This will require a partial road closure, at the very least. This requires permission from the highways authority and due notice to be given of the closure. All this takes time, but the major construction work on this mix of homes and shops on the site is nearly finished – though, of course, the buildings still have to be fitted out and furnished. The crane, however, will vanish.
